I gotta say, I love what Slacktory over here did with Sad Desk Lunch. Their musings on sad desk lunching really hit a note, the note that I try to aim for when explaining what makes sad desk lunch so sad - it’s not the meal (I mean, we’ve had beautiful lunches here!) but it’s the sad pathetic fact that eating at your desk is DEPRESSING, and maybe the nicest looking meal is the saddest in that respect.

“What makes these so depressing are those little bits of personality, desperately added to keep morale from flagging, to remind the lunch-packer that he or she is a person with preferences and needs and feelings and not just the occupant of a chair, facing a computer, so easily replaceable, so entirely unloved — a slice of lemon.”

Boom.

And in that note, Sad Desk Lunch is OFFICIALLY going on vacation for a week! Please send your lunches nevertheless, because I’m only utilizing vacation days and obviously will be back. P.S. I’m going to Italy!
